Asian SMP Wiki - April Election

The April Elections were held on April 9th, 10th, and 11th, 2022. This was the third central Asian SMP election and was the second mid-term election that occurred during the first half of President RiceMaster_'s term. In the elections, members of the 4th Judicial Congress were selected and a referendum question was polled on.

Formal parties or factions did not exist during this election; making the next Jury non-partisan.

Four of the five members of the 3rd Judicial Congress (incumbents) were re-elected in this election.

The 4th Judicial Congress was inaugurated on April 16th, 2022.

1st Round

All 5 voting seats in the Judicial Congress were up for election; 3 seats are necessary for a majority. The winner of each seat will serve a 35-day term and will be up for election again in the May 14th elections.

The Incumbents picked up 4 seats. Three were re-elected for a fourth term. The other was re-elected the first time. Due to low turnout, the election lasted an additional two days as rounds to break ties.

One new Jours picked up a seat. Replacing the incumbent Mikayla04.

The 4th Judicial Congress will be inaugurated at 12 PM on April 16th, 2022.

2nd Round

The 2nd round was held on April 10th, with the goal to resolve the four-way tie for the final two seats.

Round two saw in uptick in turnout, with 4 more players participating. The incumbent, GodspeedAssassin, was reelected with 4 votes. The final seat was split between a three-way tie between the incumbent Mikayla04, former Jour Vastator25, and Lordnell1.

A 3rd round was needed to be initiate to end the tie.

The third round was held on April 11th, with the goal to end a three-way tie for the final seat.

Round three again saw an uptick in turnout, this time, 1 more player participated. In the round, Lordnell1 received 6 votes, and the incumbent, Mikayla04, received 1 vote.

In the end result, NJay676, benss_, and Godspeed were re-elected for a third time; FrogPixel was re-elected the first time; Lordnell1 became a newly elected member.

The average turnout for the April elections was ~29.43%, which is down 24.37% compared to the previous midterm.

Referendum

Due to the massive inactivity of the SMP in the March and April months, a referendum question, "Should the SMP close?" was held.

The players were asked if and when the SMP should close. The 3 options were, "Yes, the server should close on April 16th (end of the 3rd Judicial Congress term)", "Yes, the server should close on May 21st. (end of RiceMaster_'s term)", and "No, the server should stay open."

The majority of players voted for the "No, the server should stay open". The other half pick between the two closing dates. The poll had a 35.3% turnout.
